Age, injury or illness can present us with physical limitations that our homes don't yet accomodate. Pamela Campbell, an occupational therapist, and Charlie Ellis, an experienced contractor, have teamed up to help you adapt your home to your current needs. Live! Independently will provide assessment, planning and construction (if needed). You know the community, the neighbors and the rooms and you'd like to continue to live in your own home. We'd like to help you do that.

We've been there!

"As I prepared my house for my husband to come home following his knee replacement surgery, I had no trouble pulling out a tray for him to eat from and organizing his favorite chair with the television remote control and a light he could reach.  But I suddenly realized that the biggest obstacle his first day home would be mounting the stairs to the porch.  Two low, easy to climb stairs were no problem…unless you were using crutches for the first time and weak from having spent ten days in the hospital !

I realized that I needed a sturdy handrail if he was to be able to enter and leave the house without constant help from me.  Luckily I have a good friend who is a contractor.  I called Charlie, he dropped everything and came right over and installed a handrail.

That situation lead to Charlie and me sitting down to talk about how we could use our professional expertise to help other people in similar situations."
